First time booking at SKA City Thermal Spa! Here’s how it went:

We booked hydrotherapy and a couples massage. Greeted by the lovely staff who gave us slippers, robe and a spa map. The entrance is beautiful with the moss wall art, SKA City Thermal Spa offers a selection of care items for purchase. For example I noticed the Canadian clean skincare brand Midnight Paloma since I use their face oil roller and charcoal rose clay mask.

Once checked in with our slippers and robes in hand we headed downstairs for treatment!

There is a men’s and woman’s locker room with bathrooms and showers. Lockers were easy enough to figure out by entering your own code. They include two towels. The towels are on the small side and it would be nice to have larger towels & robes that would wrap around everyones body. It was a little busy at the time we went so it was cozy. They have a selection of hair products and a blow dryer available for use.

Started with hydrotherapy around 3:00PM for about 75 minutes relaxing in the hot tub, cold plunge, inferred sauna and steam room. Absolutely loved getting to try out all the different options, we rested on the lounge beds and sipped the complementary cucumber water. There was a staff member making her rounds checking on individuals to see if they needed anything and knew how the process worked which was helpful. Around 4:30PM we headed in for our couples massage for 60 minutes, the massage therapists were knowledgeable and communicative which truly made the entire experience. They started with aroma therapy using Saje products. I don't think we have anywhere else like SKA in Calgary city limits which makes this escape from reality a true treat.

Something that really stood out to me is that they offer receipts for your health insurance claims. With them billing for massage therapy and having hydrotherapy as a bonus add on really takes the cake in their care for their clients. Truly outstanding. I can honestly say I have never felt so good after a massage. The hot/cold plunge made an incredible difference for my body.

I do wish SKA offered dry robes after/right before the massage because your robe gets wet with hydrotherapy prior to the massage. The robes are put into a warmer during the massage, this would be so lovely if they were dry and you didn't have to put the wet robe back on, we will be asking about that next time but it was minor compared to the incredible experience! We will absolutely be returning for more treatments and I think this would be an incredible place to book for an event, I could even see it being an amazing venue for bachelorette or bachelor parties. Very cool atmosphere and alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.
